a French NGO that has successfully created another international NGO and seeks therefore to differentiate itself within the same market.

  • The request:

Through a strategic analysis and consultancy, enable this NGO to become an operational and economically viable actor, capable by its expertise to work in complementarity with the other NGOs. More specifically:

- Analyse the context: internal perceptions, external needs, key actors, opportunities and threats

- Clarify the identity, the values, the know-how and the mission of the NGO

- Allow the board members to define which strategic positioning they wish to give the NGO

- Coordinate and feed the construction of a 5 year strategic plan

- Help develop the NGO’s funding strategy in line with the different axes of the strategic plan

  • Results :

- A clarification of the purpose and the key skills present

- A refocusing of hitherto diverging opinions towards a core strategic activity

- A clear action plan, with specific programmes, clarified programme leader roles and funding resources

- A clear institutional line drawn between the ‘mother’ NGO and its ‘daughter’

  • How did we do it:

- Strategic rethinking sessions with the Board

- Individual interviews in order to reach out to key actors

- Benchmark analysis

- Consulting support in drafting a strategic plan of action.
